Secondary Professional Development Schools (PDS)

The secondary PDS program offers teacher candidates the opportunity to complete their final year (including clinical and student teaching experiences) at one placement site. The secondary PDS program is available to candidates who plan on completing their clinical experiences in the fall semester and student teaching in the spring. Check with your department to see if the PDS program is offered for your major. Candidates must complete required coursework (TCH 212) and obtain the necessary documents including a TB test and criminal background check to be eligible for this program.

Full year immersion in a public school setting (32-week classroom experience)

Fall semester: On-site classes (TCH 216 and TCH 219) are taken concurrently in the same high school classrooms where the teacher candidates complete their spring student teaching placements.
Spring semester: Full 16-week student teaching experience. K-12 student teachers will have two spring student teaching placements.
