How to create an account will be covered in your PBA Orientation.
You will need your Social Security Number, address, phone number, and e-mail.
Set Up an ELIS account with the ISBE.
Write down your login name and password to remember it.
Once you create an account you will be assigned an Illinois Educator Identification Number (IEIN).
This will be yours throughout your education career in Illinois.
The following presentation gives you information about ELIS and includes slides showing you how to create an account, access your account once created, and how to navigate through your account. It also identifies common problems and what you should do for assistance.
If you should have two ELIS accounts in your name (usually caused by use of an incorrect Social Security number) they need to be merged into one account with these steps:
If you have met the ISBE requirements for the State Seal of Biliteracy while in high school, you can waive the target language proficiency exam required for bilingual education (language specific) or the foreign language exam required for teaching the specific foreign language. To prove you earned the seal, it must be uploaded into your ELIS account and a picture of your account (showing the seal and your name) sent to teacheredcenter@ilstu.edu.
If you have met the requirements of the Seal, but it's not in your account, contact your high school to have them send proof of earned Seal of Biliteracy to biliteracy@isbe.net.(ISBE instructions for schools).
