Dr. Kang has taught at the K-6 grade levels and worked as a reading specialist and enrichment teacher. She is an assistant professor of elementary literacy and teaches various literacy courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels and her research explores culturally sustaining pedagogies, teacher identity, critical literacies, and social justice oriented teacher education, specifically in writing. Dr. Kang is the founder of the Civic Engagement Cohort that highlights issues of community, diversity, and assets-based pedagogies that is housed in Champaign, IL.
