Depending on the version of Shotcut you are using, clicking the
Export
button will result in one of two
Export
windows (shown in
Figure 54
, below) being displayed on your screen. The image on the left shows the
Export
window for the older version of Shotcut, while the image on the right depicts the (more spartan)
Export
window for the newer version of the program. Either will provide you with the options needed to perform any export operation.
Figure 54:
The image on the left shows the older version of the Shotcut
Export
window with the customary array of video parameters and the
Export File
button at the bottom (highlighted in red). The image on the right depicts the more modern (stripped down) version of the
Export
window with the same
Export File
button and a newly introduced
Advanced
button (both highlighted in red).

- If you wish to perform a basic export operation (without making any changes to video
Quality
,
Resolution
,
Aspect ratio
, or
Frames/sec
), simply click the
Export File
button at the bottom of whichever
Export
window appears in order to be taken directly to the
Export File
window where you are asked to (1) provide a name for the video and (2) specify the location on your computer where the file is to be saved.
- If you wish to perform a more involved export operation (in order to reduce the video file size by manipulating the
Quality
setting, or alter other video parameters like
Resolution
,
Aspect ratio
, or
Frames/sec
), do
one
of the following:
-
For older versions of Shotcut, simply perform the appropriate procedure outlined in the videos/written instructions on this site. No additional instructions are necessary as the
Export
window is identical to the one depicted in the procedure you are following.
-
For newer versions of Shotcut, click the
Advanced
button at the bottom of the
Export
window to reveal an
Export
window that is virtually identical to the
Export
window in older versions of the program. (See
Figure 55
, below.) Now, all needed settings are available to you, just as if you were using an older version of Shotcut.
Figure 55:
The image below shows the
Export
window for the newer version of Shotcut after the
Advanced
button has been clicked (with the
Export File
button highlighted in red). Note that this window is similar, in nearly every respect, to the
Export
window in the older version of the program.
