Diverse Clinical Experiences 

50 of the 100 clinical hours completed must be in diverse settings. Before beginning any Diverse Field Experience (DFE), complete the Clinical Experience Checklist. 

Complete a Diversity Affirmation Form if your DFE site:

• Is a public school not listed as diverse in two categories on The Illinois Interactive Report Card.
• Is a private school.
• Is not diverse, but the DFE involves working with a diverse population within the site.

Diverse Setting Requirements

A clinical experience counts as diverse if it meets or exceeds student enrollment in at least two of the following four categories:

• at least 5% of the student population are students with disabilities
• at least 10% of the student population are English Language Learners (ELL) 
• at least 20% of the student population are students of color
• at least 20% of the student population are students from low income families

• A Diversity Affirmation Form is not needed for Illinois Public Schools.

Area Agencies that meet the Diverse Setting Requirement

A Diversity Affirmation Form is not needed for the following local agencies:

• McLean County Juvenile Detention Center
• Boys & Girls Club Bloomington/Normal
  • Orientation required
  • Commitment of one day per week for 10 weeks preferred
• Unity Community Center
  • Orientation required
  • Commitment of one day per week for 10 weeks preferred
• Western Ave Community Center
