Master's in Reading and Literacy - online
The Master's of Science in Education in Reading and Literacy is designed for educators who teach reading and writing in kindergarten through 12th grade. The program prepares teachers to assume roles such as reading specialist, literacy coach, and reading teacher interventionist.
Candidates complete coursework in literacy theory, content area literacy, writing instruction, and instructional strategies. The program prepares teachers to plan reading and writing curriculum, implement language-centered instructional strategies, and design effective assessment programs.
This degree leads to a Reading Specialist Certificate but not initial licensure. Licensure may only be obtained through a first or second bachelor's degree.
