Library Information Specialist Endorsement - online
The librarian information specialist certificate program is 100 percent online and prepares teachers to take the content area exam as required for endorsement by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). Courses are taught by experienced practitioners and have been carefully mapped to the Illinois content area standards.
This program prepares teachers to seek endorsement as Library Information Specialists. By completing the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program in School Librarianship, certified teachers complete the coursework required by the Illinois State Board of Education as part of the endorsement process. In addition to the coursework, students must pass the content test required by ISBE.
Courses are taught each semester and scheduled at times convenient for working teachers. Spring and fall semester classes generally meet online in the evenings, and summer classes meet online in both afternoons and evenings. Courses in this program can be used as an Area of Concentration in the Masters in Teaching Learning program.

Certification
The ISU Post Baccalaureate Certificate Program is an endorsement program. Completion of the certificate program and the required exam results in the addition of a library science endorsement on your current teaching licensure. The program is not an initial certification program and cannot grant new or additional certificates.
