Recommends educational policy of the University and advises the President on its implementation, and provides for faculty, staff and student participation in academic governance.
Coordinates alumni events such as the Hall of Fame/Outstanding Young Alumni awards and Homecoming Tailgate Tent.
Serves as the primary governing body of the College, considering and approving all proposals that are identified and disseminated as policies of the College of Education Faculty in accordance with the provisions of the Illinois State University Constitution and College Council bylaws. Members include representatives from each of the three departments and the laboratory schools.
Reviews the College of Education's policies and procedures for appointment, reappointment, performance, evaluation, promotion, tenure, and post-tenure reviews to ensure conformity to college standards and university policies and procedures.
Responsible for developing requirements for teacher education and for providing avenues of communication among all areas of the University concerned with teacher education.
Provides advice, consultation, evaluation, review and approval of all College of Education curricula proposals.
Conducts evaluations of a faculty member's professional activities and performance for purposes of determining performance-evaluated salary increments, formulating recommendations for promotion and tenure, completion of post-tenure review, and for dismissal.
Reviews practices in the College that impact students, faculty, and curricular implementation related to diversity education, and provides activities and resources for teacher candidates to gain competencies in knowledge and application of skills necessary to effectively address diversity in schools.
Develops and maintains a database of all College of Education committees including respective membership rosters and terms of office, and recommends policies and procedures related to election issues.
As a subcommittee of Academic Senate, considers appeals of promotions, dismissals and tenure decisions.
Provides activities that strengthen, promote, and support research within the College.
Develops and recommends policies related to assessing student performance and teaching standards.
Facilitates accessible and equitable use of technology in teaching (face-to-face and online), research and service.
As a subcommittee of Academic Senate, Formulates and at five-year intervals or on an as-needed basis, revises the Illinois State University Faculty Appointment, Salary, Promotion, and Tenure Policies.
